Today our team inspects the Bodzentyn cattle market. We count about 400 animals, mainly bulls and young cattle. We observe only five cows with overgrown hooves, one emaciated and one with wound on ischial bones. It looks like the animal was beaten. When the trader notices we are taking the pictures, he quickly loads the cow. Luckily, we manage to write down the ear tag number. All infringements will be reported to veterinary inspection in Kielce.
Looking at market infrastructure, we notice that tying animals to metal bars is very difficult and dangerous today because heaps of snow limit access to them. Someone moved the snow incompetently from the centre of the market to the sides, blocking the places where animals are usually tied. As a result, it is impossible to tie animals along most of the bar, and those already tied are slipping and falling down. We report this shortcoming to market staff. They know and are very disappointed with the snow-removal company because of this situation. We will check next week if the situation has been rectified.
