Poland | Bodzentyn | Monthly Report February: Cattle & Horse Market
Our team is investigating the cattle market in Bodzentyn. We estimate that there are about 200 animals at the market. They are mainly young animals. Whilst we are taking a photo of a young calf to document the situation on the market, one of the traders starts to verbally attack our team. A few seconds later, we are surrounded by yelling traders. We immediately decide to step away to de-escalate the situation. At the same time, police officers are driving through the market. Later, we find out that the police officers noticed the incident and reprimanded the traders. Luckily, we do not observe any injured or neglected animals during our inspection.
A couple days later, we are investigating the horse market in Bodzentyn. No horses are being sold on the day when we are inspecting the market. However, there are a couple of stalls where people are selling farm equipment.
