Poland | Monthly report February| Voivodship Swietokrzyskie | Farm Animal Service
In February our FAS team in Poland visited 24 farms. Some are visited regularly by our farriers. They trimmed hooves of 12 horses, 4 foals and claws of 1 cow. Several horses required treatment because of cracked heels, tinea or abscess in hooves. Michal and Bogdan noticed the positive effects of their trainings with farmers who were taught how to handle their horses. Trimming calm and manageable horses is a pleasure.
During the visit of the farm in Sniadka our team noticed a cow whose horns almost ingrown in its head. To prevent this, farriers had to cut the horns. While in Lechow, a young calf with deformed limbs (looking like tendon contraction) also needed help. Our team consulted this case with a veterinarian who ordered supplementing the calf with injection of selenium and vitamins.
The team visited also the farm in Szczucice which is under our supervision since years. After the owner’s death his family decided to sell all cows and horses. They left only some chickens and one dog. We are pleased to see positive change at this family.
