In July our farriers visited 25 farms. They trimmed hooves of 33 horses, several goats and claws of 3 cows. In most of the cases, our team was called to lame animals. In a few cases, the abscess was the reason of lameness. In one case, our farriers suspected joint injury. In the remaining cases, the lameness was caused by overgrown hooves.

In December our FAS Team in Poland visited 15 farms. They trimmed hooves of 14 horses and 1 cow. Trimming mare “Mandaj” was a big challenge. She was bought recently by one of the farmer visited regularly by our team. The mare has neglected hooves and seemed never been trimmed before. Our smiths had to use a rope and noseband to trim her hooves.

In September we received anonymous information about neglected animals at one farm in Eugeniów. Our team went to check it. There were about 20 horses, different age, in average condition. We’ve seen more shortcomings: three emaciated mares, stallion tied among mares, poor bedding, projecting metal part of the boxes, dog houses in average condition…
