The blood farms: the Austrian magazine «Pferde revue» adds: «mares in the blood farms, governments intervene
The scandalous buzz about the undetected extraction of blood from mares during their early pregnancy, required by the meat industry for the production of the Hormone Pregnant Mare Serum Gonadotropin (PMSG) lasted quite a long time.
But since when last fall the Animal Welfare Foundation revealed how thousands of pregnant mares are cruelly treated because of this extraction, which is even often used here, governments of Uruguay and Argentina have been facing massive international critics.
