Poland | Bodzentyn, Lagow | Monthly Report January Cattle & Horse Markets

Dangerous reloading of cattle in Bodzentyn

Sometimes we only see about 15 horses at the market, some days no-one shows up.

Almost empty cattle market in Lagow.

Not much is going on at the horse market in Bodzentyn. Sometimes we only see about 15 horses, some days no one shows up. The number of animals is also decreasing at Lagow cattle market. We are informed that the Mayor seriously considers closing the market in Lagow. In Bodzentyn the average number of cattle is decreasing as well, however it still remains at around 200 animals. Again, during our inspection we notice a trader who is loading cattle directly from one lorry to another using their ramps. We reprimand him and inform the market manager about this situation. Additionally, we inform the Mayor of Bodzentyn and Veterinary Inspection to take appropriate measures to stop the direct reloading. As such direct reloading poses much higher risk of injury for both people and animals.
