Poland | Opoczno | Punishment for Animal Cruelty

Ingrown horns cause a lot of suffering for the animals.

We receive information from a prosecutor in Opoczno regarding another case of a cow with an ingrown horn into its head. We documented it at Bodzentyn cattle market in December 2018   and as usual we reported the case to the police.

During the hearing, the defendant – a previous owner of the cow – was pleaded guilty and settled for the agreed penalty proposed by the prosecutor. The woman is sentenced to four months imprisonment and suspended for one year. Additionally, she needs to pay a fine of 500 PLN (about 115 € / 126 CHF). This time the verdict is rather low compared to similar cases we experienced recently. However, we are happy with each successful result regarding the Polish animal welfare situation.
