In November, our FAS team in Poland started implementing new formula of Farm Animal Service programme. Our goal is to increase effectiveness of improving animal living conditions at Polish farms in swietokrzyskie region. We want to encourage owners of farms where improvement was needed, but motivation to change was lacking. In the new FAS programme, we will deliver free services only for farmers who meet our requirements. Persons interested in joining our programme need to sign an agreement with us. Then our team evaluates the farm according to a prepared guideline. Based on this, our farriers will point out a list of improvements which need to be done by a specified deadline. If the owner completes all tasks, they will be awarded. The prize depends on difficulty and number of completed tasks. The basic award are free services like hoof trimming or deworming. Fore more difficult and involving tasks, the prize will be also more valuable, for example an electric fence/dog house/kennel etc. The list of awards is long and attractive. We hope this will help us achieve our goal. We have already singed several agreements, only a few farmers refused to sign. We will not work with them any longer. In urgent cases, like in Modrzewie, where a cow cracked her hoof and was limping, or in Przybyslawice, where a foal stepped on a rock and injured his hoof, we will continue providing help as usual.
